The spinners from my 1957 wheelcovers will soon return after re-chrome plating. It seems to me that the crossed flags on the spinner were painted a color. Think the one was Black and the other was either unpainted or Red. I Know the Chevrolet Corvette is supposed to be black. Comments welcome. If they are to be painted, what should be used and what is the best method to do.

Re: 1957 wheelcovers
Thanks Steven--Do you have a good process for painting the black in the letters and/or flags and making it stick? I know that Chrome is a very smooth surface. I need to paint these small areas without destroying the new plating elsewhere. Is primer required? Any help would be appreciated. Ted- Top

Re: 1957 wheelcovers
Ted, my covers still have original paint and plating but I spoke with a fellow a few years ago who repainted his flags and letters. He masked as much of the spinner as possible, sprayed the flags and letters with Krylon semi gloss black then cleaned the residue with thinner after a few minutes. I do not believe he prepped beyond a good cleaning and wipe down with thinner. No primer and did not spray black thick. Steve- Top
