The correct radiator for a 1957 seems to be a copper/brass radiator. Was this a 3 core radiator? My 57 radiator has been having some problems. I just started the car today after sitting since October 2012 in storage in my garage. After running awhile, I saw antifreeze leaking along the top again. I just had this rebuilt about 2 years ago so it has failed again. It developed a leak the same place then. I think over the 30 years I have had it (same radiator) I have had to rebuild 4 or 5 times. The radiator shop is a good shop but I think he remarked the last time that it was getting worn out and could not get a good seal on the top. I think it may be time to bite the bullet and get a replacement. I see some listed as 3 core copper/brass for the $460 price level. Since each rebuild costs about a $100 it may make sense in the long run. I would appreciate comments and also the experience of others having rebuilt theirs and comments on longevity. Thanks in advance. Ted von Kampen

Re: 1957 Corvette Radiator
Had my '57 done in fall of 1967 and OK now. I always fill with distilled water and anti-freeze and sometimes rust preventative when I flush every two years. If you have had it rebuilt (cored?) that many times get a DeWitt's. If each rebuild has failed I would reconsider the shop.- Top
