I was told I only had to cut the ash tray
Pocket. Turns out I was better off taking
Out the motor and install it as one unit.
I also had to cut the tunnel. They were not
Accurate at all with the instructions!!! The job
Was done at Vette Dreams who has done Tremic"s
Before but this new SS700 was a nightmare!

I put a TKO 600 in my 62 behind a 450hp crate motor and all I cut was the ashtray pocket, but I got my kit from Classic Chevy, which is not owned by Hurst. Their support was great, but you have to understand anytime you are putting something new into something old there are bound to be problems. Do you think they can duplicate every situation in their shop before they sell the product? No one does that. But looking at the pictures and the dimensions it appears the SS700 is smaller, where exactly did your installer have problems?

I installed the Classic Chevy only after buying a Keisler at Corvettes at Carlisle. I had the motor out and had one heck of a time trying to install the Keisler Tremec. Complained on Corvette forum and Keisler posted they would take it back, just weren't clear on the 20% restocking charge. Their Tremec unit was over sold to me; more cutting needed to be made than they represented, in some venues that would be false advertising. Classic Chevy has a lower profile tail housing the shifter comes in from the side not the top. That higher shifter location made it hit the tunnel.
