I am taking my original radio out of my 65 and saving it for a later date. I am putting in a USA-230 custom autosound system. The speaker wireing looks very clear and the connections are great. My question is on the power supply, where is the best place to connect the RED IGNITION wire, and the orange BATTERY wire? I am installing all new wireing harnesses in the entire car and don't want to cut into it, also I have my instrument cluster out right now and everything is easier. I am useing a dual speaker in the original position, two front kickpanel speakers, and the rear sound bar. Any help from the tech.gifted of the forum would be helpful.

Re: 65 sound system
Doug,
What are your plans for the car? I don't think an aftermarket stereo will do very well in judging. I plan to add a fuse to my cigarette lighter, then use that to power a boombox or something behind the seats. It won't be pretty, but is removable for flight judging. The sound won't be great either way.

Re: 65 sound system
You can run the "ign" to the ACC terminal in the fuse block, that should only be hot with the key to ACC or ON. The Orange wire sounds like it wants constant 12 v for memory. I'm not sure if there is a Hot terminal in the fuse block or not, you can check on that. I ran a fused 6 gauge wire from the starter terminal into the cabin to power my system.- Top

Re: 65 sound system
I doubt that you will be happy with the sound quality, volume, or duarbility from it. I had one in my 67 for 4 months, then threw it away. Bought a Pioneer and have Kenwood speakers in front and a pair of Infinity in a custom jack board (that I made) in the rear. The light at the end of the tunnel has been turned off.- Top
