    66 Fuse Panel plate .

While preparing to install my brand new M&H wiring harness into the firewall , I discovered by looking at the AIM (UPC 12 B1), that Bubba had already been there sometime before me ! I have no Fuse Panel Plate attached to the firewall . Holes, yes . Plate, no .

So does anyone have some really good pictures of how, and exactly where it attaches so I make sure I read the AIM correctly.

It appears to me, from looking at the AIM picture , that it goes on the passenger side of the firewall with the rivets entering from the passenger side as well. However I have a pic of a 65 firewall that clearly shows it on the engine side . Did it change in 66 ? . Even if that is correct, I would like to see both sides of the rivets , and the gap between the firewall hole and the plate . I don't know about you all , but to me a picture is worth "Two Thousand Words" !

So if you have any good pictures of either side , please send them along !

As always ,thanks for all your help ,

    Jim

Jim, Here is a '67, which I think is the same as '66. The fuse panel plate is on the engine side of the firewall. Yes, AIM UPC 12 Sheet B1 is confusing. It looks like the plate is inside the interior, but it is not. The AIM page however does show that the rivets are inserted from the inside, with the rivet head touching fiberglass, and the peened side would be in the engine bay contacting the plate. That is typical rivet assembly procedure. Also, the screws to hold the fuse panel will "pull" the plate tight between the fuse panel and firewall dash panel. Also note the 2 "U" nuts on the plate for the screws. And there must also be the gasket to keep water out.

      Rich,

"The AIM page however does show that the rivets are inserted from the inside, and the peened side would be in the engine bay contacting the plate. That is typical rivet assembly procedure"

Thats what I thought, and hense the pictures request , but the AIM drawing sure looks convincing for the reverse ! It's the " The AIM page however does show the rivet head touching fiberglass" that I still don't see .

However the pictures you provided are great ! So thats the way it shall go , as soon as I order one.

Thanks again for the effort !
