Does anyone out there have a 1974-76 Corvette with a known-original jack? I'd be interested in the style (i.e. 2-1/8" wide saddle versus 1-3/8" wide saddle) and the date.

Re: 1974-76 Corvette Jack Dates
74 and 75 are 2 1/8 and 76 are said to be 1 3/8, although i think some 76 cars had the 2 1/8. there is a eight page article on jacks that should answer most questions on C1 jacks in the spring restorer. examples of date codes on 2 1/8 jacks presently on ebay are 5D, 5E and 5F, 1975 april, may and june. 1 3/8 jacks have three numbers on base rivet. example is 619 in the restorer, 19th week in 1976.Last edited by John S.; April 14, 2013, 06:34 PM.- Top

Yes, that article is what prompted my question. The author talked with some folks at the manufacturers and was told that AUSCO ceased tha manufacture of the jacks in 1973. If so and as he theorizes and I agree, GM must have had a stockpile of the AUSCO jacks (i.e. the wide saddle with an "A") and used them until the supply was exhausted sometime in the 1976 model year. However, if this is the case, then there should be no jacks dated 1974, 1975, or 1976.In Appreciation of John Hinckley- Top
