66' Replacement AC Heater Core

Need to replace a leaking 66' AC heater core. I have a friend that had three replacements leak on him. I think he got them from LI Corvette supply, but not sure. I have bought many parts from them and was mostly satisfied. Have any of you had this same experience. Does anyone sell a good replacement? If so, where? I'm going to guess that these replacements are made somewhere overseas and the quality is not there. Anyone know of any made in the US?

Not sure about the cores that LI sells, but when we had the radiator shop, we saw many owner induced leaks because they were not careful during the installation and broke the joints between the pipes and the tank.

Why not simply take your old one to a radiator shop and have it re-cored? That way you're guaranteed a perfect fit and no leaks.

Didn't know that the heater cores could be re-cored? I never see any advertising such a service. I would be interested in hearing more about it.

Call your local radiator shop. Every shop around me does it and I've had it done many times over the years. It's the exact same as re-coring a radiator, only a little smaller. Be sure to contact a shop that ACTUALLY builds & repairs radiators, not a shop (like Walt's in the Northwest) that only installs new products.
