    Hi Jim,

just echoing what Brian posted back in July… how did it all work out with the paint. I learned today that my car may have been Trophy Blue as well.

That's a stupid way to judge! One of them could be correct. What happened to '"the benefit of the doubt goes to the owner"?

I have said all along that I don't believe the new paints are correct, and had grave concerns when I decided to paint my car during a body off restoration, currently underway. My car, '66 427/390 Laguna Blue (pretty unusual color) was purchased on Oct 7, 1976 from my best friend's wife after he died. The car had sat in his garage for about 3 years, and I did a restoration mechanically and had the car stripped and painted with Dupont Lacquer Laguna Blue in 1978. I started complete restoration project last July, 2013, with intent to drive, but take all to 'Dealer Delivery' condition. This past January I saw a laguna blue '66 at Kissimmee which I felt met the correct color requirements and the owner gave me the Dupont Chroma base #s. My painter, one of the best according to my restorer who was a master NCRS judge and recipient of one of the first Bowtie Awards for his 1958, has sprayed a section of my car's headlight 4 times in different areas with the new Dupont Chromabase, using different air pressures and finally adding some slight green to tint the new paint. His last attempt, I believe to be the correct color according to my original lacquer repaint in 1978. Oh, and by the way I have kept my car garaged and covered since 1978, and have only driven it about 500 miles a year since the repaint.
My humble conclusion, NO ONE KNOWS WHAT THE REAL COLOR SHOULD BE in most of the new paints.
