    Decoding alternator and starter

Looking to see if they are original to my car. 67' 427 390hp. Alternator is 1100693-37A 7A10. The starter is 1108400 9C 21. Thus far I believe the starter is from a big block 1969. Any help on the above is appreciated.

The alternator is correct for a 1967 Corvette originally utilizing a 37 amp alternator. The alternator was manufactured on January 10, 1967. So, as long as the car has a build date within 6 months after that, it would be considered date-correct.

The 1108400 starter was not used for 1967. The one you have was assembled on March 21, 1969 and likely originally resided on a 1969 Corvette with 427 and manual transmission. It would be valuable to some 1969 owner.

Thx Joe....very helpful. How valuable is 1969 starter versus a 1967 427 starter. I would be willing to sell it, but I would then be looking for a 1967 427 starter. I checked with John Pickle but he currently does not have one.

The 1967 GM #1107365 starter is VERY difficult to come by. The 1968+ 1108400 with correct dates is also very difficult to come by but probably not quite as difficult as the 1107365. However, keep in mind that the 1108400 is 100% functional for your application and is configured the same as the 1108400. So, the only thing you'd be getting if you changed it would be correct number and date. While you could sell the 1108400 for good money, it's still likely going to cost you some serious money.

In your case, it's also very possible that the 1108400 was installed on your car under warranty since the 1108400 was once the SERVICE replacement.

I think iwill just have it rebuilt; not going for NCRS points. I appreciate your help and the assistance you gave on some of my other post. I don't think I could do this frame off restore without the help of this site.
