I'm overhauling the wiper transmissions on my '57. I've gotten one side overhauled and back together (I think everything is ok but won't know until I get it back in the car and hooked up). However, I'm having problems with the other side. As I drive (or press) the outer pulley onto the shaft, it goes on easily and won't snug up. Thus, when I push in the main shaft to separate the two pulleys, the shaft pushes on though the outer pulley, maybe a 16th of an inch or so which is not enough to separate it from the inner pulley. The hole in the outer pulley seems to be worn (probably not the first rodeo for the transmission), and thus won't provide a tight fit on the shaft. Has anyone else encountered this and if so how did you rectify it. I'm posting a couple of pictures of the pulley and shaft. Thanks Gerry

Re: Wiper Transmission problem
Here are the pictures - pulley and shaft. The pulley is supposed to be pressed snugly onto shaft, but mine is loose enough that it slides with a little pressure.
Thanks
Gerry
