Those of you who purchased your Corvette new from the dealership, I have some questions that I would like you to answer from me if you don't mind. All names will be kept out of report. Why did you chose to get a Corvette? I had an 84 Nissan 300ZX and heard that the 1986 was really fun to drive and very refined...turned out to be sorta true!

What year and options did you get? 1986 pretty much loaded but chose cloth seats because I did not like how hot leather was here in summer ...Arizona.

Final price of Corvette? $27250 this was my first dealings with a fleet department...bought at invoice...or so I was told!

Best performance Value at the time, had a 63 I bought with my paperroute money and it was time to step up to a new one.

Why did you chose to get a Corvette?
As a child my father took me to he Detroit Auto Show each year and I fell in love wth the red Corvette displayed in 1962. I decided then and there I was going to get a red Corvette. School, marriage and a home delayed this purchase until 1976.

What year and options did you get?
Karen and I purchased our 1976 in September of that year. We agreed that it had to be a red four speed and at that time we found only two new four speed cars left in the Detroit area and only one of them was red. It was a T-top with black leather interior, air conditioning, AM-FM stereo, power steering and brakes but manual windows and locks. An interesting note is that in 2008 when we were preparing the car for judging at Novi I found the business card of the salesman at Ed Rinke Chevrolet who had sold us the car and determined that he is now a Sales Manager there. We had an interesting conversation although he was not able to recall this particular sale. Karen and I remember well driving our new Corvette off the lot with 7 miles on the odometer.

Final price of Corvette?
Sticker price was $9300 and they accepted $9100. No sales tax was paid at the dealer. We took delivery on the Certificate of Origin and a transport tag and drove the car back to Indiana to title it.

I will answer these in order; The Corvette I ordered was a 1966 rally red coupe, I still have it.
Because I had wanted one since I saw my first one in 1956.

Options: 350 HP, M21, tinted glass, radio, posi-track (3:70 to 1) headrests, goldline tires.

Price: list $5200 paid $4205 ( I knew the salesman)

Ordered for my 23rd bday, took delivery June 23, 1966.

Also owned a 1965 Impala SS.

Owned (with the bank) a 10' X 50' trailer.

Not really. Had GOOD job at Kennedy Space Center.

Annual $ for wife & I was around 17-18K.

Married, no kids.

I worked at Saginaw Steering Gear Division, GMC and was eligible to purchase a new Corvette on a company discount.

What year and options did you get?
1976, four speed, L48 engine with AC, T&T strg column, power strg, leather interior, aluminum wheels.

Final price of Corvette?
$7600, I think that my price was around $7200

How old were you when you bought your Corvette?
33 years old

How many other cars did you own at the time of you purchase?
None at that time

Did you own a home at time or rent?
Owned my own.

No, I was single

Really don't know for sure. Maybe around $20,000

Note the Firestone Radial 500 tires. Several months after receiving the car, all 5 tires were replaced with Firestone 721s as part of a recall campaign.

I've purchased 3 Corvettes new. The first (1972) I chose because I loved the looks and was dared by my girlfriend that I couldn't afford it. Second (1975) to replace the '72 I totaled. Third (2013) liked the looks and it was the last year for the C6.

Years were 1972 with power steering and brakes, A/C, AM/FM radio. 1975 had power steering, brakes, windows, A/C and AM/FM stereo. Last one is a 2013 with LT4 and 60th anniversary packages.

1972, approx $5800, 1975, approx $7500, 2013, I can't say, but it was way below sticker (dealer is a good friend)

1972, 18; 1975, 20; 2013, 58

1972 & 1975, 0; 2013, 4

Own my home not limited

1972, $1.85 per hour; 1975, $14,000; 2013, 6 figures

1972 & 1975, single; 2013, married (but will be single if I buy another one. I'm looking =))

I would love to give you my story about my 63 which I purchased while in the Army. My income as a PFC dictated my options, i.e. NO fuel Injection (some $382.xx extra). Send me an E-Mail and I'll expound back with the details.
