After two water pump failures, https://www.forums.ncrs.org/showthre...ght=water+pump the soap opera continues.
I bought a new rebuilt pump from Bill Mock, also bought a new fan/fan clutch and pulley. Trying to leave nothing to chance. Assembled and installed the pump/fan/clutch/pulley assembly.
When I placed my hand on the pulley (with no belts) and rotated the pump clockwise/counter clockwise I feel and hear a clicking sound, kind of feels like backlash in a gear assembly.

With the power steering & alternator belts installed, I can grab a fan blade and move it front to back (towards the radiator and back towards the engine), this causes the fan/clutch/pulley assembly to move about 1/64" or so (it's a very small amount). If the pulley is moving, then the water pump shaft is moving. Should there be any movement up & down of the pump shaft?
