I have purchased a used but functional 1115287 coil from a known collector and parts person. My question relates to the coil body correct color, as I received it is a grey/sliver color with an unpainted apprearence. Is this correct it should it be gloss black like most coils I have seen? My application is a 1969, BB 427-390HP. Thanks, Gary

It is gloss black. I restore them and use Krylon Gloss. Self etch primer first and as many thin coats of black as you dare. Make sure the coil is hanging absoultely vertical as that will minimize early paint runs. Whe I do them it takes about 1/2 hour to apply the black. Tape the plastic with blue painters take following the crimp at the top.- Top
