    "69 tri-power throttle cable

I have a friend that has a '69 L-71 and he just found that the throttle cable is shot. He e-mailed me this:

"The tri-power setup uses a different cable that is 1 inch shorter due to carb mounting and is not reproduced. I saw a NOS one on ebay for $450. Not good news. From what I have read, if I use the standard cable it may bind because of the kink caused by the longer length."

Is this correct or is a reproduction availible somewhere?? Thanks for the help!!

I think you can give it a more sweeping dip behind the valve cover than the more direct route that the original one takes. I shouldn't bind.

I have the longer one on my 427/400 and it works perfectly.

Early 1969 with 3X2 used the longer cable although a different bracket was also used. All 1968's did, too.

As far as I know, there is currently no reproduction available for the shorter cable. However, I could see this happening in the future------if they can reproduce the longer one, they can reproduce the shorter one.

Thanks for the help, it's nice to hear that the availible cable is at least functional. I'll pass the info along.
