C1 Power Top Switch Dash Pad Cutout ("Keyhole")

I am trying to locate the power top switch dash pad cutout on my '62. I've read that that it is behind the courtesy light.

What is "behind"? WRT to the courtesy light? Is it closer to the front of the car? Or closer to the rear of the car?

That part of the console in my car may have been replaced, and cutout in the fiberglass glassed over. Therefore, I may cut the dash pad freehand. That is, without the corresponding cutout in the fiberglass to guide me. Can anyone post a photo of what the cutout looks like and provide some measurements. I hate to start cutting up a perfectly good dash pad solely for judging points. But I would try it if I had some confidence in what the cutout looked like.

      Chris,

The hole would be located between the courtesy light and the center console.

Try reaching behind the center console, above the radio with your hand. If you can reach back there, you should feel the flat area where the light is mounted. Just before the light, there should be a hole in the fiberglass.

Here's a picture of my 1960. Blank plate for non-courtesy light car, but shows the location of the switch cut out.
