great photo Bruce! and from Nebraska none the less. Looks like 1930 or 31. Loved the 28 chevy setting behind the garage - would love to see what was in the old parts bin.
    Thanks for sharing.

date in lower left corner looks like 4-11-33; actually had ethanol back at the turn of the century as think Model T ran on it; and in reality, an engine was developed in early 1826 that ran on ethanol and turpentine!

Re: How long has ethanol been around?

While no one knows when beverage alcohol was first used, it was presumably the result of a fortuitous accident that occurred at least tens of thousands of years ago. However, the discovery of late Stone Age beer jugs has established the fact that intentionally fermented beverages existed at least as early as the Neolithic period (cir. 10,000 B.C.)

Over the millenia, at times when it is unobtainable, people go through some novel approaches to substitute for it, more notably "torpedo juice" during WWII and Sterno for bums on the Bowery.......................

Henry Ford believed that ethanol was the future of automotive fuel. He believed that gasoline was only an "interim" fuel that would be used until a large scale ethanol production infrastructure was developed for the country.

I thought Al Gore invented it along with the Internet.

He also invented pants (according to the Snickers commercial).
