    Numbers Matching

A friend of mine is thinking of buying a 66 coupe 327/350hp L79 number matching car. Would this be correct for a early built car if the transmission was dated
P1030 and the stamping on the block was F 11 08 HT? The car was built 11 22 65. I would think it would be correct but would like to have the consensus from the forum. Thank you

When was the car built? Hopefully after both these dates. For instance, my original 1966 Mosport L79 coupe was built Dec. 7, 1965, has an engine stamp of F1102HT, and a tranny stamp of P1126.

Isn't the VIN derivative stamped on the transmission?

Morris, from the information that you've given, it looks OK to me. Remember that the term "Numbers Matching" means exactly that. It is no indication of originality.

+1, dates look fine, but originality is not spoken to with that oft used, and abused, phrase.

Thank you all, i guess it's pretty hard to really know what is original in this day and age. Some have it down to a science and others you could tell a mile away that's it's a fake. Buyers do your homework!

If money and humans are involved... there will be corruption. You just gotta do the best homework you can, get the advice of others, and cross your fingers.

                  Good luck though!

Call James Greene; he's got a blue '66 L79.(662) 417-0522. Honest and knowledgeable but won't jump through hoops.
