1963 Engine Stamp Codes, your thoughts/comments?

Greetings, firstly I am not overly experienced and would greatly appreciate your insights. Regarding the attached 1963 engine stamp codes, it appears as if this is a re-stamp? I would expect the VIN number portion to be of a smaller character size than the assembly date code? Is this the case? Any other thoughts/comments? Many thanks.

not that anyone should need it, I enhanced and rotated your image. Yes, the vin font size should be smaller and font style different from the date code font.

That's the infamous engine pad by Stevie Wonder. Not to be outdone by the Fonawanda engine pad of Big Block fame.

I could easily be fooled, but not by this one. I'd rather have a blank pad than that stamp.

Yup, this one needs to be saved for future generations to see. I think the Fonawanda engine stamp is still my favorite though. (I think I invented that word)

If the casting number and date make sense, possibly this is the original block that was decked and restamped during an overhaul at some time in it's past. Probably not an attempt to deceive, just a shop that thought they were doing the right thing.

Honestly, I would not condemn it until I knew the suffix code. If that is supposed to be a Corvette engine...bad. However, if that is a passenger car engine, then it might be a possibility.

I recall seeing 63-64 vintage 409 blocks in passenger cars with individually stamped VIN derivatives.
