C3 Power Steering really too light

Hi all,

I have setup power steering on my car a couple of years ago but I noticed many time the steering is now way too light (and a bit nervous because of the lack of feedback). Is this common or something which can easily be adjusted?

Rob, The p/strg. control valve has a internal spring that senses the pressure from the pump, and this is what give the feed back to the driver. There is a letters stamp on the small cap on control valve that use to tell you the spring that was used.There maybe something up with spring. Broken? or compressed.

Is this something that you have recently noticed, as if something has changed? Can you drive another one to compare? You may have a spring or valve issue, as Ed suggested. However, I've also heard from more than one of your Countrymen that the steering on American cars is way to light. I always thought that these complaints came from being accustomed to more "effort" in the power steering in European cars, as well as rack & pinion systems.
