Re: Fuse Block 68 Corvette
Stefan, I am certain that 25 Amp. is the correct fuse for a wiper motor circut. as for the owners manuel pic. thats interesting and the repro fuse block matching the pic. I think that its a possible screw up on both parts.Your old fuse block says it all.New England chapter member, 63 Convert. 327/340- Chapter/Regional/national Top Flight, 72 coupe- chapter and regional Top Flight.- Top

Re: Fuse Block 68 Corvette
The problem is to find a block with the correct marking. I have returned one Harness already because of the missmatch. The new one I received was also 20 Amp.I have described the problem for Ecklers ,it did not help

Re: Fuse Block 68 Corvette
68 is the first year for the shark body, and am wondering if the 67 had a 20amp wiper fuse and the eariler 68 possiblely had a 20 AMP fuse. and then switched later in the year?? could be a the issue Your having.
It seems like such a minor detail, Can you possibly make a stencel and just repaint the number 5 on it?New England chapter member, 63 Convert. 327/340- Chapter/Regional/national Top Flight, 72 coupe- chapter and regional Top Flight.- Top

Re: Fuse Block 68 Corvette
Stefan
Edward hit it right on the head, the wiper fuse rating was changed during the model year from 20 to 25 amp.
If you have the latest 1968/69 JG this is called out in TSB 68-T-45 of April 24, 1968 on page 7. They don't give a date when it went into production but my April 18th built car has the new 25 amp fuse block.

Re: Fuse Block 68 Corvette
Stefan
I'd worry that if you buy a 69 dash harness you may have the correct 25 amp on the fuse block but the wrong wiring layout. The two years will certainly be similar in layout and schematic, but there are going to be differences as well. I'd try to talk to limited electric to see if they know what the differences between the two years are.

Re: Fuse Block 68 Corvette
Stefan my original owner built in 1968 in the month of FEB has on page 67 of my original owners manual both the picture of the fuse block and the fuse data list. On page 68 is the first page of the INDEX. The picture of the fuse block has 20 amps for the wiper fuse location and in the data list the fuse is also a 20 amp fuse. Did not pull the fuse to see what was actually installed. The fuse in the fuse block should be the original one.- Top

Re: Fuse Block 68 Corvette
Thanks all.My goal is to replace the old Dash Harness with a new one with a correct fuse block. The manufacturer M o H and Lectric Limited advertise that they manufactures exact reproduction wiring harnesses. They should be aware that it was a change of the fuseblock during the production year.If I install a 20 amp fuse block it is not correct for a late 68.

Re: Fuse Block 68 Corvette
They may not be aware of that, and they may not want to be aware. There was a change in the under dash wiring harness during the 1970 MY and LL was not aware of that. I am not 100% sure of the conversation with them because I only got involved in researching the original configuration, but even when these vendors have the original drawings discovering these mid-production changes can be difficult. The drawings may not always reflect the changes accurately either. I have found some vendors are remarkably eager to cooperate with us, if we can tell them exactly what we want. Others not so much. Thanks all.My goal is to replace the old Dash Harness with a new one with a correct fuse block. The manufacturer M o H and Lectric Limited advertise that they manufactures exact reproduction wiring harnesses. They should be aware that it was a change of the fuseblock during the production year. Re: Fuse Block 68 Corvette
Jim:
The original fuse block for my 68 (#11552) is configured for a 20 Amp fuse, just as yours. This is as I would expect, as I believe our cars were produced on the same or on consecutive production days.
This suggests that the change on the production line from the 20 to the 25 Amp-labelled fuse block was some time after mid-February 1968.- Top
