Either of these door knobs more correct than the other?

I have 2 different sets of door knobs for my car, just wondering if either one is more correct than the other. The 'INTERIOR DOOR CONTROLS' section doesn't say much about them other than they are white plastic.

One pair has a casting flaw with a small pit (both knobs in the pair have this). See the knob on the left.

The one on the right has a brass insert in the threads.

I was told that originals have the brass threads

I've owned 62's and 61's since 1974. I've never seen originals with brass inserts. Neither of my 62 bowtie cars has any hint of a brass insert. That is not original. The other you have pictured would not be typical of factory production, either. Let me do a little digging and get them camera and see what I can do to help more.

I pulled out the bag I have of about 15 original knobs, all 61-62. There appears to have been two suppliers. The first has almost no built-up ridge around the hole for the shaft, and has a barely discernable casting parting line around the circumference. One of those, in fact, had no discernable line at all. The second has a built up ridge around the hole, and easily discernable parting line. NEITHER has a brass insert, and neither has a "tit" at the top. I checked all 15 for both. You can see the difference in the built-up ridge vs. not in the pics.

I am not home now but from memory my original knobs on the '57 have no buildup, and they have no insert and minimal lines. Steve

Mike is correct, no brass insert on original door knobs or shift knobs. Have had quite a few of these cars since 1964 and never saw inserts. Rich

I stand corrected, got home and checked my notebook of Corvette facts and found originals have no brass threads, it tough getting old!

Terry, getting old is tough---but once you are old it is great because nothing bothers you much except maybe a late meal and being out of Depends. HAPPY EASTER! Now if I could only remember where I hid those eggs.
