65 Fuel Injection clean air tube

What is the typical finish for the steel tube that connects the air meter to the left exhaust manifold on a fuel injected 65? Mine has some black paint on it, the manual says zinc or cad.

Also, were any of these tubes supplied without the tab that secures it to the exhaust manifold bolt? Mine has no evidence of ever having that tab, but I am guessing it just broke off that cleanly.

Well on a 64 (& my understanding 63 also) that tube is natural with no paint. As for the tab mine does have it, again for 64.

I'm with Alan, no plating on something attached to an exhaust manifold. Mine Natural

Gary, You didn't ask but the "tab" holding the clean air tube to the exhaust manifold (via a special stud-forget the name of it) has a flat washer and a thin hex nut that is identical to the fuel filter bracket washer and stud.
Repros come in SS and zincad finish. At least they used to. I don't know what is on the market today as far as material and finishes go. JD

Thanks to all. I have a new one with the tab and ala natural now. Perhaps someone removed the tab from the old one as they are mucy easier to put on and remove that way.

Just a followup on John's comment -
The nut is 124829 (jam nut) cadmium finish while washer is 120394 plain steel finish.
(The AIM calls the washer a lock washer however its really a plain washer.)

Washer specs: 3/8 SAE. Readily available. The SAE washer is thinner than a normal flat washer.
