    65 starter ground

I am replaceing the engine harness on my 65 coupe. While connecting the starter wireing ,I found a NO.4 battery cable with ring connectors on both ends attached to the short bolt on the starter and under one of the bolts of the battery tray.It looks like someone was trying to pick up a ground.Does'nt the ground come from the short starter bolt witout the need to go to the frame with another NO.4 cable? I want to know if this cable is needed?I would like to remove it.The aim drawing shows that he starter is grounded. Is this the way it is meant to be in the aim, or does it mean the starter is grounded by being bolted to the engine?

Looks like someone wanted a redundant ground to the frame. Probably did not have all the factory grounds properly installed.
