Jeff, My first step would be to cut the lines flush, and put a boxed wrench on the brass fittings 5/8? and take a 6 point 1/2 socket and try to remove the old fittings from the brass union. The 6 point socket will sometimes give you a little extra bite on a worn fitting. vise grips as a last resort.

If you know someone with a impact wrench that uses a blow from a hammer that you could borrow to break lose the fitting in using the 6-point socket is another method you could try. Even a regular electirc or air pressure impact wrench might help using a socket.

Jeffery, I confer with your numbers on the tag, about the brass unions on the case, I'm a user of Kroil myself just give it plenty of time to soak in, also
when you attempt to break it loose use a heat gun (not an open flame) the electric blower type heat gun with be more than enough.

          Richard,
I will take your advise and start soaking today. I will give it a week of constant soaking and then try the heat gun. I will try to break these loose before I cut off the pipes. Thanks.

              Richard,
I did what you said and presto, with a little tapping on the box wrench with the palm of my hand they both broke loose! NAPA has the parts and now on to the next challenge.
