    63 headlamp bucket question....

Howdy all. So last night I went to raise my headlamps and the right one stopped about half way up then dropped down. It's now swinging freely on it's hinges.

My question is this...., it was working fine then just fell and started swinging. What broke? Any definitive thoughts?

    Thanks!

Jim,Open the hood and that a peek at the motor thats not working, you may need a mirror and light to see. sounds like something feel off, or broke. I know the drive gear in the aluminum housing is a weak leak, maybe stripped?

Thanks Ed. Yea, I looked and couldn't see anything obvious which is why I asked the forum. I'm guessing the worm gear needs to be flipped, but was hoping someone had this happen to them and knew exactly what it was. Thanks again!

Jim I am not a big fan of flipping the gear, because if you get the gear in the wrong position, you'll be taking it apart again. 35 bucks and be done with it.

I agree, the clip that hold the motor in place dislodged and the motor slid off the shaft.

I agree with morot slipping off the shaft. If a gear was stripped, the housing likely would not more freely. The clip and the brace is all that holds the motor in place. The brace has a rubber gromet so the motor can move. Let us know when you find the cause.
