    Holley carb date stamp

Hello, does this stamp look consistent, or possibly a restamp. It is a secondary carb for a 69 tripower

It looks legit to me. The date code is the first week of January, 1969.

Thanks Joe, I am missing one of the secondaries, and this is a perfect match. Are the secondaries interchangeable? In other words can a front be made into a back or vice versa?

Yes, it can be used either front or rear.

Not a Holley expert, but the lack of a registration plane on the part number stamp characters would leave me scratching my head. Is this normal in Holley carbs?

                Re: Holley carb date stamp

The date code has the letter "I" instead of the number "1" ("9II" and not "911").
The links below (Ebay) show Holley carbs with the number "1" in the date code stamping, not the letter "I".
These Holley carbs on Ebay are not mine.

I like in your picture that the part number characters are all in line, tends to verify my thoughts that the posters decision to purchase or not might be pretty easy in the negative?

                    Bill,

I do not understand your comment (or is it a question) at all.

Comment, not a question. I would RUN from the carb in the original post and find a better example, just to be clear.

I found a photo of my 66 Corvette 3367 Holley carb dated "613". The number "1" is a real number "1', not the letter "I".

Here's another 3 carbs off a late 1969 400 hp car, with dates similar to OP, and 3 (bonus) examples of the stamped "1". I bought the complete setup w/air cleaner and "795" manifold back in early 90's.

Bill --- could you explain "registration plane" ?

Notice how the first character of the part number ("3"), the second character of the broadcast code ("U") and the first character of the word "LIST" ("L") are heavy stamped. This is virtually the same as the carb pictured in the original post. I doubt that a restamper would have gone this far. Yes, there are certain minor differences but I think they're within manufacturing variation.
