Did all '68 - '69 convertibles come with a convertible soft top when ordered with the optional hardtop (RPO# C07)??? Or did one have to order the soft top (RPO# C05) also??? Thanks in advance.

A body color hardtop or any color folding top was no charge. Two tops were an extra charge as was vinyl covering on a hard top.
Put another way, it would've been delivered with a folding top which was included in the price of the convertible. You could specify a body color hard top in place of the soft top for no charge. If you specified a vinyl covered hard top in place of a folding top, it was an extra charge. If you specified two tops, that was more greenbacks and if you specified two tops, with the hard top being vinyl covered, that was even more big green daddyo's.Kramden- Top

I can tell you from personal experience that you could have ordered a 1968-75 convertible with a hard-top and without a soft top. That's exactly what I did back in 1969. I still have the car but since 1986 it has a soft-top, too. It would have cost me about 253 bucks to have the soft top + hardtop. In 1986 it cost me over 2,000 bucks for the soft top by the time everything was said and done.In Appreciation of John Hinckley- Top

Thanks for the info, gentlemen. Just to make sure I understand - if on the tank sticker, it only shows a hardtop (RPO# C07), it is safe to say that the car came equipped without a folding top. In other words if the vehicle was a 2 top car - it would show both RPO# C05 & C07 on the tank sticker(???) Thanks- Top

It is my understanding the folding top was included in the base price of the convertible. The buyer had a choice of top color in applicable model years. The C05 entry on the build sheet usually indicates the color choice. As I understand it, the hardtop was always optional at extra cost. If a buyer ordered the optional hardtop, the folding top could be deleted and a credit allowed toward the cost of the hardtop. The judging guide specifies the owner is responsible for documentation of a soft top delete car.

I can say for certain that the MSRP of a Corvette with a soft top only and one with a hard-top only was exactly the same.In Appreciation of John Hinckley- Top

I'm curious of the date. Was the no charge hard top in effect prior to January?

I believe the no charge for hard-top only extended from at least 1963 to 1975. It might even have been that way during the C1 years but I'm not sure of that.In Appreciation of John Hinckley- Top
