Re: 1959 Corvette barn find on eBay
Interesting car.
But I find it strange that mice ate the dash pad but did not touch the wiring, weatherstrip and other rubber parts, carpet and other soft parts.
He does not mention the seats so I assume they have been recently replaced.
What is special about the screw in the wind-split which I assume is the fender top molding.
Also he mentions a Powerglide drive shaft which I believe is the same as all other drive shafts.- Top

Regarding the phillips screw at the windshield end of the top fender moulding, I don't know why he refers to it as being special unless he is saying it was a unique method of keeping the moulding in position. If that is the case, he is correct.
Sometime, in late 1959, after VIN 8,000 the factory actually employed the "screw" method to keep the moulding in place since the stud and barrel nuts used prior to this were not doing the job. This method didn't last long. Beginning in 1960, a stud and nut was used to secure the moulding. In order to access the nut from the bottom, a recess was provided in the metal reinforcement.
My own car was built the last say of 1959. I have over the years, located at least 8 others. All were built after #8,000. There is no question that it was a factory operation.- Top
