    RPO UJ6 -- Tire Pressure Gage/Gauge.

In the C4 Corvette Parts Manual there is reference to the Production Code UJ6 Tire Pressure "Gage". This is the spelling in the Chevrolet Parts Manual.

The NCRS Judging Manuals state in the Center Console and Glove Box Contents Sections-"Tire Gauge (Spelling in Judging Manual) Required if equipped with UJ6 Low Pressure Tire Indicator RPO) if so equipped".

Both forms of Gage/Guage are correct. Does anyone have a photo of this Tire Pressure Gage/Gauge?

Or does anyone remember it being chrome or black?

    Thanks

My original-owner 1992 was supplied with a tire pressure gauge as part of the owner's portfolio kit and my car is not equipped with the low tire pressure warning system.

Joe, thanks for the response. Is there anyway you can post a photo or just tell us if the gauge is chrome or black?

      Thanks

        Pat,

My 90 ZR1 came with the gauge and it is chrome. As I recall it also has a "Corvette" decal, but I would have to look at to make sure.

Folks, I just received a photo of a Corvette Tire Pressure Gauge from Tom Hendricks of Buds Chevrolet. Tom has been a Corvette Salesman for almost twenty years. He has been know to be somewhat of a collector of Corvette Stuff. Right now he does not remember the year this Corvette Tire Pressure Gauge came out of but he is researching this issue. As you can see it is quite different than the previous example submitted by Joe.

Joe's example is primarily Black, whereas Tom's example is Chrome.
              Thanks Tom

Pat. As a side note. The chrome gage I sent you a picture of is marked Schrader on the pocket clip. It seems to me I've seen the black ones but don't ever recall delivering one myself. I only remember the chrome. I do also remember some cars without LTPWS that had the gage. I have a few more around and I will try to get some pics for ya !

Schrader is a manufacturer of tire-related tools and parts. In this case, it looks like GM just used a standard Schrader pocket-gauge and added a Corvette decal. Most of the aftermarket tire gauges of this type have a chrome body.

                      Pat,
The gauge in my 90 looks just like the one Tom posted. I'm sorry I didn't post a picture - I'm not that computer literate.

                        Re: RPO UJ6 -- Tire Pressure Gage/Gauge.

Folks, today I received some 1992 stuff and it included a Tire Pressure Gage.

It was in a slot in the owner's pouch on the left hand side.

It did not have the word Corvette on it, but if Corvette was put by decal it might have come off.

Interesting point on this gage is that it was made in Taiwan, as seen on the clip of the gage.

I have provided some photos and Joe if you would be so kind to compare it with your gage, I would appreciate your time.

Again, thanks to everyone who took the time to respond to my intial inquiry.

Pat, my 96 has the LTPWS but my car did not come with a pressure gauge. Mine is probably not typcial though, because my pouch also didn't contain all the typical literature, and I didn't get the emergency keys, etc. I don't know why my car didn't come with several of the items normally accompanying the cars.

                            Re: RPO UJ6 -- Tire Pressure Gage/Gauge.

Folks, on my submission of the tire gage that I obtained today, I think it is some gage other than what was in the Owner's Pouch. All the photos that I have now examined, including Joe's, pretty much show it is an after market item. But you never know.

                            Pat
I will answer a couple of questions that you presented concerning items you did not get with your Corvette.

                            1. Concerning the tire pressure gage- How many slots did you have in your Owner's Pouch- 2 (Penlight and Pen) 3? If you had two, there is a probability you were not suppose to get one.

                            2. No Emergency Key-- Their was no emergency key in the 94-96 Corvette (At least these years) in the owner's pouch. After the owner took possession of the Corvette, Chevrolet sent the owner a Packet shaped like a key that contained one/two (not sure) Courtesy Keys with the VIN number on it. They also included two Roadside Assistance Cards, not as the Judging Manual calls for the outdated Roadside Assistance Brochure.

The attachment is for a 1996 Impala, but was the same for the Corvette, I have the original from my 1995.
