Bell housing front cover plate color

Just finished my winter project and one thing keeps bugging me. What color is the front cover plate on the bell housing? Re-did mine engine orange based on color found close to the inner lip, but it just don't look right. Maybe it's because I got used to it with no paint and road dirt and grime on it. Thanks.

Bill is right. However, some folks get confused because when purchased over the counter thru Chevrolet, it comes black.

Well to add a little to the pot, the original covers were natural and not black, and general coverage was poor on the cover the orange paint was poorly covered in that area, along with the oil pan coverage. I myself like the full coverage and know its going to cost a few points for over restored.

Well, even though it doesn't look right, at least I did the poor coverage part. I was under the car today and it is looking a bit more correct. Thanks for the replies.
