In our search for a 66 air coupe we have seen multiple engine code suffixes of HT (350hp, mt) when we were expecting to see HP (350hp, mt, ac, ps). Also the prefix was a V rather than a F. Is my NCRS Spec Guide out of date?

Re: Engine Code Question
Well, the simple answer is that the engine has been replaced, or the equipment has been added. HT was a base 350 hp without P/S , HP with P/S. The "V" code used to indicate the Flint engine plant in place of the "F" occurred well later than '66 so that is a dead giveaway to a replacement, but don't rely only on the stampings, check casting dates, casting numbers as well. If you are looking at an expensive piece, might be worth it to hire someone familiar with the cars to assist you, if looking for a bargain, they are out there, but not easy to find, especially on a relatively uncommon combination as HP and P/S. Unlike '65, Air conditioning did not drive a suffix change in '66Bill Clupper #618- Top

Re: Engine Code Question
My old 66 has an "HP" designation as well as a "F". It was equipped with AC, 350 hp, PS, PB and TI. I did some research back in the day and Nolan Adams agreed that the "HP" designation was real for a 9XXX serial number car.- Top
