i found a set of good years for my 84 not sure about the date code. here are all the numbers on the front dot mk4 h jo 217 on the back side i found this( tpc spec 1044. )what does this mean. p255/50vr/16 if i understand the date code they where made in 87. if so would this affect a top flight judgeing even though they are the same tire that was on an 84. the wheels have the right part numbers for 84 and date code. also there is a number just after the 217 in bossed into the tire from the mold (010r)on two of them and (010L ) on the other two. interesting. could someone who knows about this please help me out. i have ordered my judging book however i haven't recived as of yet. jonney 034.jpgjonney 032.JPGjonney 031.jpgjonney 033.jpgwell these are the pic's i could down load. thanks so much for anyones help. i know the condetion of the thread isn't great however it took me around 6 years just to find these.

I'm sure someone more knowledgeable than I on C-4s will chime in, but I believe the original tires on your 84 were a 1 year only configuration with the Good-Year lettering recessed into the tire instead of protruding from the sidewall. I couldn't see the outer sidewall of the tires you showed, but I don't think they were available after 84 if at all in service. If your tires are indeed date coded 87 I would expect the tires to have raised lettering. I guess what I am saying, is, you may not want to install 25 year old tires that you couldn't or shouldn't drive on if they are going to receive the same or nearly as many deducts as new tires (as long as you stay within standard deduct guidelines). Chip.

well the tires are have the raised lettering, i don't know about deductions as of yet. I'm not planning on driving with these tires if i use them. i was going to put them on wants i get to a judging advent. i have a new set of bf good rich g force tires on it now. same size. i think the 84 lettering was recessed in to the tire. it's not possible to find those at all. i hope the tires i got will work with out allot of points taken off. as the new tires. just because they say good year eagle p255/50vr16. and the tread looks the same. I'm hopeing to have a judge on c4s contact me about this. i have a book from the ncrs one its way. its been around three weeks since i ordered it. still this book might not answer my questions about the tires. my 84 only has 17,000 miles and also has a low production date it was built in 3/26/83. it sucks that someone took the original tires and wheels of and replaced them with p245-60vr16 and the 89 wheels with adapters. other that that this vette looks all original. the engine compartment is untouched except the battery. i did get lucky and found the upper rad.. hose with the gm part number for a spare. just in case. the interior looks like new. i think the best thing is put it in the serviors class for judging. what is bad that the 84 is the hardest one to find origial parts for. it seams like everyone that has an 84 wants to much even if it;s a parts car.

Johnny the 84 tire for the base car is a Goodyear unidirectional 255/50VR16 and the original tire had recessed letters. the wheel size is 16" x 8 1/2" for all 4 wheels. And the wheels are right side and left side. If you have a RPO Z51 car the tire size is the same as the base car. The wheel size for the Z51 cars are 16" x 8 1/2" on the front and the rear wheel size is 16" x 9 1/2". And the wheels are right front, left front and right rear, left rear. In 85 the tires did go to raised letters.
