Are these caps original to any C1? I can't find them in my GM P&A book. I saw them advertised on ebay. They don't have the fake spinners.

Re: C1 Wheel Cover Center Caps?
Joe, I ordered some spinners in the 60's or early 70's and they came without the ears like those. That was during the period when "knock-offs", covered headlights, and side exhausts (in some states) were illegal. I did not accept them because they lacked the ears. A friend ordered some for his '66 and came without the ears, also. For cars driven year round in the north the chromed ears tended to pit. Steve- Top

Re: C1 Wheel Cover Center Caps?
You can thank Ralph Nader for the elimination of "flippers" (and various other "dangerous" things) on cars.
Yes, those caps are what were the available replacements from GM for the 56-62 full wheel covers after they were outlawed.- Top

Re: C1 Wheel Cover Center Caps?
The original ornament (i.e. with "spinner") was GM #3725239. The latter was discontinued in April, 1971 and replaced by GM #3964510. Examples of that is what are pictured. The 3964510 was discontinued without supercession in July, 1996.In Appreciation of John Hinckley- Top

Re: C1 Wheel Cover Center Caps?
Thanks Garry, I was just curious as to what they were and now I know. NOS center caps with spinners would be a really special find. Someone will probably discover a set some day and they will show up on ebay.- Top
