C3 Race team France needs help

Hi , I hope winter ends soon.

Most of you are familiar with my trip to Europe last fall.

I had the chance to meet many corvette owners and race teams. One of the teams that I met in France is building a C3 for race competition in Europe.

They asked me to post their site and if any of my US friends would like to comment and or make suggestions on the build, they would appreciated it.

The site is in French and English. More and more US muscle cars are being shipped to Europe and our experiences with these cars will help them a lot.

Here is a link to the site http://corvetteracerteam.com/

Let me know what you think and if they are on the right track

They don't state their purpose for the car, i.e. vintage racing or if there is a racing league they want to join. As such, it's hard to make any suggestions without knowing their goal. Otherwise I assume they are just trying to make a retro racer looking car.

There's no way I would ever run fuel lines through the passenger compartment. The last thing I'd want in an accident is fuel being sprayed on me. In addition I'm not sure it's legal in any racing organization or on any track. I would highly suggest they move the fuel lines and the pump.

Not sure if the brakes they are using are cast iron or not (they're painted), but to reduce unsprung weight (especially at the corners of the vehicle) they should consider stock style aluminum calipers or go Wilwood (also aluminum) with 6 piston up front and 4 piston at the rear. Wilwood now makes a bolt on replacement caliper for 65-82 Corvettes which uses a stock caliper mounting bracket and no modification to the backing plate. Also, I agree with Patrick, fuel lines in the passenger compartment would seem to be a no-no.

        Hi Patrick,

Good point, they have a response page I think, and your suggestion and questions would be appreciated. You will get back a response from the site (security) to make sure your are a real person, then , you can leave and receive messages.

They are French, and need some help.... or a big fire extinguisher

Hi Michael, don't tell me, tell them, that is why they asked me to help them. You can respond to them on their site and they would really like to hear from you. They will translate anything you write, as few speak English, but the wine was very good , and the meals they served me were excellent.....

Thanks for the tip. Please feel free to pass it on to them , as you see, they can use it . Good chance for some NCRS pr in France , as this group is well know Corvette drivers and collectors.
