Referemce material shows the the trim code as 490AA for my car and that is what I have, so I've never questioned it. But the same references show the paint code as 923, but my tag has 923AA. I don't question that it is correct but wonder what the AA is about. Does anyone have a clue?

Re: C2 (64) Trim Tag Trivia
Think it's the ECL code. The AA means upper and lower body were the same color. This was in place to handle the Impalas and other 1964s that could be two-toned.https://MichiganNCRS.org

Re: C2 (64) Trim Tag Trivia
Ken: How about a white top on a red (non-SS) Impala? How about a green bottom and beige or white top on a four door?
At least four white top examples on e-bay as I type this. Simply search 1964 Impala, then look for the "cars and trucks" sub-category.https://MichiganNCRS.org

Re: C2 (64) Trim Tag Trivia
I saw 2 on eBay, one with a white vinyl top and a baby blue "restored" with a white painted top. Neither car had what was available paint & trim that was available at the Chevy dealer I worked at in '64. Maybe they were COPO cars like Clem's Camaro. Myself, I wouldn't use eBay as a definitive resource.- Top
