Original Rear Storage Tray Jack Compartment from a 68-71

Does anyone have a Picture of an Original Rear Storage Tray Jack Compartment from a 68-71?
The Tray that goes above the Jack.
I found 2 different ones for Sale that claim they are Original for a 68-71, but they both look different... So 1 is probably an original and the other not...???...

So if anyone has a Picture of one that they Know is original, that would be greatly appreciated.

    Hi Scott,
Try searching the archives as this has been discussed in the past. To start check the Similar Threads section at the bottom of this page. Some good info in those threads.

Which year are you referring to? 68 and 69 are different.

Some of the originals might have a date or a part number stamped on the bottom of them. Originals are deeper than the current reproductions.

Only two of the five similar threads at the bottom of the page seem applicable -- but those may provide all the info Scott needs to answer his question provided he is interested in 1969 to 1972. As usual 1968 is a whole other story as Mark suggested.

Scott, when a vendor, or even Chevrolet, lists a part for 1968 to 1972 (or some other date range) it does not mean that it is exactly like the original in every nuance. It only means it will fit and function (mostly) for that age range. If you want something that is like the assembly line installed part -- whether for judging or for your own satisfaction -- you need to be much more specific both with us and the vendor.

            Scott-----

Over the past few years there have been threads on this board which included photos of just about all the configurations of these storage compartment trays ever used on a Corvette. So, I do think the archives should have all of the photos you seek.

The other C3-storage-tray-over-jack-compartment-question covered it pretty well.
Sounds like it is hard to find, especially since it seems 68 was different from the 69-71 in that it had the lip all the way around and did nut have that 2" notch for the latch.
Thanks for the help! Now to find one.................

                Scott,

Go to the tech board "members list" (under the button labeled COMMUNITY above). You want to look for John Waluk, so click on the letter "J" then go to page 62 of the "Js". When you find his name click on it and you will get the option of sending him an email or a PM. The choice is yours after that.

Or just use the search feature to search the member list for "Waluk" and skip all the Johns.

If memory serve me correctly the difference between a 1968 and later boxes was the 68 did not have the center recessed area on the front for clearing the storage door latch on later cars.

I didn't know one could do that. Thanks Patrick. There are a lot of Dons and other first names and I have often wondered why with all the computer power we have that list is ordered by given name, rather than by sir name.

BTW: I was about to tell Scott to look in The Driveline. John usually advertises there.
