C1 59 brake clutch pedal tower assembly recommended plating & paint

    hi all,

I'm restoring the brake & clutch pedal assembly on my 1959 and was wondering what are the recommended plating and paint for it? Anyone have some good pictures from a bowtie car? From my research on this site:

The tower should be gloss black as well as the pedals. pedals were dip painted about 2/3 up. The triangular plate on one pedal is gloss black also. What about the bolts, screws, the small spring plate and brake light switch plate? The clutch rod I saw is black phosphate. Were the pedals raw steel under the paint, since the tops will be exposed?
What about the cylinder that goes through the center of the pedal bushings? raw of cad? Correct me if I'm wrong on any of this stuff.

    Ian -

The pedal support and the painted portion of the pedals are semi-gloss black, and the round pivot rod on the clutch pedal (from which the brake pedal pivots) is unpainted. The pedals were raw steel under the black primer.

So definitely semi-glass, even though the emergency brake assembly, cowl vent tubes, defroster vents and heater casing were gloss (or low grade gloss)?
Any idea on the extra plate that has a spring on it and the brake light switch bracket?

On my 1960, the extra plate and brake light switch bracket were gloss black. The brake pedal arm was definitely dip painted as it had a paint run. The paint on the brake pedal arm was faded; I painted it gloss black.

Thanks gentlemen! I'm going to go for the "low grade Gloss" other stuff is mentioned in the guide. That's going to be closer to semi-gloss. I have off the shelf Krylon gloss black and the industrial gloss black, that is less glossy (with lead! whoo hoo!)...

Thought I'd post this pic too. Real nice shot of where the dip paint line might end. Pulled from ebay.
