In the Assembly Identification Stamp section of the 56-57 Judging Guide reference is made to the "engine assembly". What parts make up the engine assembly? I would assume that the block, heads, oil pan and intake would be in the assembly but what about the exhaust manifolds, flywheel, clutch, bellhousing, distributor, generator, water pump and motor mount? Were these parts included in the engine assembly? Some of the above have casting dates and assembly dates and I am curious as to how they match up to the pad stamp date.

Re: 1957 Engine Assembly
Terry,
If you have a 56-7 AIM - check Section 6 Engine. Per John Hinckley's rule - if you see a part number it was installed at St. Louis. No part number it came as an assembly.

Photo below shows the "bare-naked" 1955 engine assembly as shipped from Flint V-8; this one is a passenger car engine - the Corvette assembly would include the front motormount bracket, and not the generator brace. Manual-transmission engine assemblies included the flywheel, clutch, bellhousing, and clutch fork. The engine state of dress didn't change any for the next 15 years.

Re: 1957 Engine Assembly
Terry, if you look closely (remember '55 pass car used a "log style" manifold) the exh manifold is shown in John's picture..Bill Clupper #618- Top
