Where to find 1968 to 1971 U69 AM/FM radio schematic

I found a source for a U69 Delco 7302721 AM/FM radio schematic that I thought I would pass on, it was not easy to find with a simple web search. This radio is listed in the 1968 - 1971 AIMs as Option U69.

It can be found in Sams Photofact Auto Radio Series book, edition AR-52 from July 1968, pages 19 - 31. Includes circuit board photos, schematic, component descriptions and alignment instructions.

I believe that the material is still copyrighted, so you will need to find a copy. An excellent source is http://theschematicman.com/books.htm, $9.95 with free shipping! The difficult part is that there is not an index (that I know of) that tells you what radios are in which edition and you order by edition number. Not a problem now that you know it is in AR-52, but difficult if you are looking for another radio.

Talk about a bygone era, there were enough electronic hobbyists around (and the electronics of the day were so unreliable) that a company could make a buck publishing schematic books!

I recently purchased a 68 radio guide, repair, schematics, pictures ect. If anyone would like a copy we could first fax this to see if the clarity is ok or make a copy. Glad to help. Jeff

If you need radio info, look for this manual. It comes up on EBay every now and then. Has a bunch of stuff and there are others for other years.

Jeff can you fax this radio schematic to 1586-231-0392 and we'll check the clarity?

The stereo receiver version and separate stereo decoder/amp schematics can be found in AR-78. It's generic enough to cover 68 to 72. The original Delco radio maintenance manuals are just annoying to use.

Delco Radio Service Manual has them, email me if you need a copy of a particular page. I have a 1970 printing, email me with your specifica and I will see if it is covered. Need the radio part number from the sticker on the radio

The SAMS Photofacts was an expensive publication back in the day. Every TV and Radio repair shop had them.

                    Hi Dick
Getting off topic here but I see you have the 69 Delco Radio Manual. I am trying to verify that statement in the JM on the lettering on the stereo light changing from script to block lettering from 68 to 69. Nowhere can I find any script lettering. My 68 Delco Book calls for the stereo indicator for the corvette 7303211 radio to use a 7304761 (indicator, stereo) part that's illustrated as #'s - 16C and 20 (can't see anything). Is it the same for the 69 Delco Book? In the 68 Delco Book it's under section D 15 for the stereo radio. I've talked to a number rebuilders and seen a bunch of 68 serial numbered radios and all are block lettering. Radios from serial #121 (I have) to 1716 (I also have) and then up to the 3000's. One builder, who has done a bunch of NCRS radios thinks that cursive lettering may have been a Buick part, not Corvette.
                    Thanks
                    Dale

                        Dale,

You missed Dick's statement "From Ralphie" That means the photo is from Ralph Spears who is photo-posting challenged. Ralph frequently sends photos to a select few of us here to post on his behalf. Dick does not have that particular Delco Manual -- however some of us have that one and others. Dick may have some radio manuals -- I don't know.

It has been years since I looked at mine, but my recollection is that there is no answer in those manuals to the stereo indicator question you raise. I remember looking when we first revised the early C3 Judging Manuals, as they were called then, back in 1993. Our information for the TIM&JG came from observations of 1968 & 1969 Corvettes. I will state the obvious and tell you we did not observe ALL 1968 & 1969 U69/U79 equipped Corvettes.

Thanks to both. Terry, as you inferred, it would be impossible (without seeing almost every car), to make a call as definitive as is implied in the JM. The phrasing leaves little room for correctness of a bunch of radios I have observed. Just digging, as this is the fun of what we do. Your right, the 68 Delco book didn't answer any questions on the script, I was just wondering if the stereo light had the same P/N in 69 as 68.
