1968 courtesy light door switch repair question

My originl SX courtesy light switch is bent and I want to try to bend it back. The design is simple with the switch plunger passing through a tube. The tube is one of the switch contacts and a plastic body holds the other contact connected to the wire. What I do not know is how the plastic body is held to the back end of the plunger. It does not appear to be screwed on. It may simply be a press fit but I dont want to force it until I know. If I can take the plastic off then the plunger and spring can be removed and I can hopefully fix the bent tube.

Has anyone taken this switch apart?

Russ, I have had one of my switchs apart and really had no luck fixing the tube, It has to be almost perfectly round. to work. The plastic connector has about 3 ribs that hold it to the shaft. it will pull off with pliers.There is also a internal spring, if its stuck to the tube try not yank it out. maybe rotate to remove. good luck, Ed

Have you searched the archives on this subject. I'm pretty sure a couple of years ago there was a thread on rebuilding the original SX switches.
Foud the thread . Search for restoring "Restoring 68-76 XS Door Switches Simple how to". I'd post a link if I knew how.

Larry thanks. I found the thread and it looks like the plastic should just press off the pin.
