Upper a/c and wiper switch console plate...screw types.

In the picture below is a photo of the upper console/bezel plate for a 1971, it holds the a/c vents and the wiper control switch. There are 5 screws that attach it to the upper dash pad, gauge bezel and a/c duct. I know they are supposed to be black. What I need to know is what type of screws came from the factory..were they flat head screws or oval head screws, or a combination of both?
Part # for the 1 screw in the top by the washer switch is 9427633
Part # for the 2 screws by the a/c vents is 9427690
Part # for the 2 screws at the very bottom is 9419328

Thanks for any help that can be given.

The picture shows what I have for p/n 9419328. The finish on this one is phosphate and oil (gray-black). I don't have anything for the other two screws.

      Randy,

That p/n is for the 2 screws at the very bottom of the console plate, and being a pan head type screw would make sense because the 2 holes that they mount through are not tapered or recessed to require a tapered screw, the area is flat. Would you happen to know the head diameter? Thanks for any help....Doug

The outer diameter of the head is .37", or just under 3/8". The thread size/pitch is 10-16, and the length of the screw shaft is 1/2" long.

Just kind of a heads-up for everyone interested in this. I work with a man who restores classic cars (muscle cars and Corvettes) and will build and/or work on an occasional hot rod. When we were looking for correct fasteners for my '68 4-4-2 convertible, he directed me to the AMK catalog. It's an absolutely wonderful reference in finding correct fasteners for cars. Their on-line catalog can be viewed at www.amkproducts.com. The catalog even has a cross-reference to GM part numbers in the back. The thing to remember here is that, the older the car is, the less likely the part number will be in the AMK catalog. On my '68 4-4-2 and my '71 Corvette, the "hit" rate was about 50%. And, in Doug's case here, the "hit" rate was 40%. But, what's nice about the catalog is that it has actual size pictures of a host of fasteners and, if you can't find the exact fastener you need/want, you can at least look at the other fasteners and try to come close to what you need/want. I just know it has worked well for me. I now have a hard copy that I reference when I need to look up part numbers because that seems to be an easier way to start the search! Hope this helps.
