Is a rear exhaust panel for a '63 different from the 64-67 ones ?

I am thinking of mounting a side exhaust system on my '63 convertible. One of the things that puzzle me is the fact that there is no rear exhaust panel avaible for a '63.
I realize that this not an original option, but it was neither for '64 and the avaible aftermarket panels seem to be fitting a '64 as well.
What is the difference and what options do I have (I want to keep my original exhaust panel intact in case I want to change it back to the original exhaust)
    Thanks, Ruud

The 66,67 rear valance panel is different from 63-65. The bezel openings have different features for the chrome/stainless bezels. The 66-67 chrome bezels are total different from the stainless bezels.

If your asking what rear exhaust panel for side exhaust will fit, believe any year will do the trick. The 1963 rear exhaust panel is a one year only panel.

'63 had smaller outlet holes than '64-65.

The 1965-1967 w/side mtd. exh. rear lower filler panel is GM # 3863752 (wo/ bezel holes). I would assume that it would fit the 1963 with a side mtd. exh. but I have never attempted this conversion. The rear lower filler panel (GM # 3874799) on my 1966 is currently off the car (replacing exhaust system). If necessary, I could provide you with photos of it to compare with your 1963 panel.

Believe the '63 has separate bonding strips on the ends for the flange that attaches it to the body. The later years have that flange built into the panel.

Don't believe this provision would not keep a 64-67 panel from not fitting a 1963

It is different, but you can make it fit. 63 has no closed end like the later 64-67, and there is a small flange glued to make the mounting tab. Both of those things can be modified on the later units. Originally all of the rear panels were different, except the 66-67.
