    1969 Side Exhaust Valance Markings

I have a 69 350/350 that I am starting a body off restoration. In removing parts and documenting the parts with digital pictures, I came across the markings on the lower valence. The car has original side exhaust as per a call to the original owner from the POP. As you cam see from the attached picture this is the correct valence and has the correct part number. My question is, are the markings to indicate a side exhaust car? As I get further along, I am sure I will have more techinical questions but thought the marking might be of interest. Appreciate any comments.

Looks like 73069 to me, possibly for July 30, 1969. Was your car on the assembly line on Wednesday, July 30th?

My '69 side exhaust car has N14 in crayon on the bulkhead behind the passenger seat.

Rob, in the US, going South means going away, in his case he is losing what little mind he had left

So it hasn't got to do with the most southern area's of the States (like Florida, New Mexico or Texas), like your brain gets cooked by the hot weather commonly encountered in those area's???

Just a colloquial expression. We would use it in the Southern Hemisphere also. Now good ole Doc McCagh's brain has been fried for years, he has studied too many Corvettes

Thanks for the replies. Car is an October 10 1969 build. I have not gotten to the intrior removal yet but appreciate the 'heads up' about the markings on the bulk head behind the drivers seat. Thanks again.

The bulkhead marking would be on the outside or underside of the body just in front of the gas tank. It could also be on the inside of the car but look on the outside first. Those on the outside or inside help the line worker know if a car had some special or different items being installed so the modification that were needed would be completed. Before body drop.

I would say every 69 I've seen, (with the carpet removed) that was originally equipped with side mounted exhausts, had 'N14' marked on the kick up behind the seat...just like Gary's picture.

Almost every part had numbers marked on them. They appear to be simply accounting numbers at the manufacturer.
