    1966 wire help.

I am restoring a 1966 base engine coup with A/C and A/T, PS and PB.
I have threaded the A/C wire harness and the engine harness thru the firewall.
I have isolated the two pink wires to the ballast resister and have connected the Flat "3 connector" connecter to the washer motor.
I unfortunately cannot figure out the connection for the "angled" connector with the pink and light green wires. IN the NCRS electrical wiring diagram book - page 30 - it seems to go to an un-named part that has 3 wires coming out of it (Light Green, pink and dark green), but I have no idea what this part is - whether it should be on the engine side of the firewall or inside the cab.It looks like this un-named part connects to the Back-up lamp switch - but again I have no idea where this goes. I have attached a picture of the wires in question. Any help would be greatly appreciated.

Neutral safety/back up light switch, on the PG shifter.

Thanks David - so is that on the inside of the firewall (meaning that I should not have threaded that piece thru the grommet as I did with the other wires to the wiper motor and the ballast resistor?

Correct, it goes inside the firewall to the switch on the shifter.

D#$@& - oh well - hopefully I will be able to pull those wires back thru without pulling the grommet out of the firewall.
So then I guess that the taped part of the wiring harness is inside the firewall and only wires are on the outside. That is not quite the same as the picture in the AIM on C60 E5 view C.
          Thanks a million -
          Joe

            Joe -

That's because the instructions in the C60 section assume that the car has a manual transmission (which was standard equipment), and those cars had the pink/green wires routed through the firewall grommet to connect to the pigtail that came up from the transmission-mounted backup light switch. With the optional Powerglide, those two wires stay inside the car, part of the dash harness, and connect to the shifter-mounted backup light switch.

              Thanks (as always) John,
That makes more sense to me. I was able to locate the connector inside the car while I was looking and could not understand why if all the wires for the A/T came out the top of the A/T inside the cab that this set would be outside the firewall. As always there is a simple answer - that makes sense - if you know what the answer is.
Thanks Again and on to the next part of this project.
