Any pictures of early verus late 1969 seat belts ?

from Alan Colvin article in Corvettte Fever:

In 1969, the lap-belt-buckle receiver was surprisingly nonadjustable and was encased in a vinyl protector cover color-matched to the interior. For early '69 cars, the receiver had a square plastic cover with a round pushbutton release in the center of the receiver. The pushbutton had a GM logo with a turquoise background. In later '69 cars, the receiver was a stainless steel assembly with a square pushbutton release. This square release button also used a GM logo with a turquoise background. The shoulder belt for '69 was attached to a retractor, which was encased in a color-matched plastic cover that was bolted to the rear wheelwell. The date-code label and position are similar to the '68 cars. For both '68 and '69, shoulder belts were standard equipment on coupes and optional on convertibles. Also, '68 and '69 cars used a three-bar-pattern belt for both years

Regarding the recall (Campaign 9002), if anyone has any insight regarding the problem or a copy of the
    campaign, I'd appreciate it.

Thanks in advance !!!! (as usual)

    Bob,

There is a copy of that campaign in the latest 1968-69 TIM&JG. We put all the commonly available Service Bulletins and Campaigns for 1968-69 in that book. If you own a 1968 or 1969 it might be worth investing in for your reference library.

My understanding is, as I have posted here before, the first design seat belts worked fine if the tongue was inserted into the receiver right side up, but if the belt was twisted and the tongue inserted upside down, a tug on the belt would release the latch. This proved to be not so effective -- thus the campaign. I can not recall the subject of the post that brought 1969 Corvette seat belts up before, but there is a pervious recent thread on the subject.

Still looking for my '69 JG.......it's "somewhere".

Have one belt buckle that is a late '69 based on Alan Colvin's description. Definetly doesn't latch - I see if it works
if I flip the latch upside down.

      Other belt is long gone......

      Thanks Terry !

That info is in the Latest manual that came out late last year. Not in any of the earlier editions.

I can tell you this much: the belts with the plastic receiver and round, "turquoise" background were used until VERY late in the model year. My original owner 1969 built in mid-September, 1969 was originally equipped with that style seat belt.

            Thanks Joe.

Very interesting tidbit, this puppy is a Sept. 68 build.

From what I read, it sounded like the early '69 belts were used only in the first month or two of production.

            Obviously not the case.

If I find the service campaign for the belts, I'll post it for other folks.........and it sounds like a new JG
            should be ordered too.

Thanks Dick & Joe, I appreciate your help.

              Bob,

The latest manual weighs about 3 pounds and is over 300 pages thick. We made it hard to lose.

But it is hard to use on the judging field!

There are pictures of both belts in the JG.

Robert, I too have a Sept 68' built convertible, lap belts only and they are the first design.

Our chapter separates it into five sections for the judges also, but most of the car owners I encounter have brought theirs and have it lying in their chair. We were hoping that the appendix material could be bound separately.
