This is a stupid question....but is the license bezel chrome plated or painted? It's hard to tell..

Chrome. The same bezel was used for 1963-67.

The judges always have their little magnets out, as I recall, to check......

Yes, between chrome and painted, chome is closer. However, anodized aluminum is correct.

So I assume the rear license lamp assembly, tail lamp assembly and front parking lamp assemblies are also anodized aluminum. What are guys doing in terms of having these refurbished?....Is it cheaper just to by new? Mine are pitted in areas and scratched up.

I'm not sure about the license lamp. However, I believe the tail lamps and front parking lamps are chromed zinc diecast material. This material is difficult to restore.

I'm all for saving original part when you can...I don't think much can be done with pitted alumimum. LIC sells a nice looking US made one for 100 bucks.

Trim Parts makes some very nice replacement tail and parking lights which are chrome plated. The license lamp is painted.

                    Scott,

Are the side pipe covers also anodized aluminum?

Yes they are. You need to have them stripped if you are going to buff and repaint them. Well you can spend all week sanding them as well, but the stripping makes life easier. I recently had mine stripped and buffed, then I painted the recess areas silver. I debated on clear coating them but left them for the time being.
