    Id wheels

Would appreciate any information regarding the following wheel as described:

15 x 5 with KH stamp but date not clear
has letters GM stamped once between lug nut holes on front side
    has small nubs for wheelcover
has large nubs for small hubcap
has large circumferencing ridge line outside the large nubs
    has rounded(humped) not flat rivets

In what year and application were these used?

In advance, thanks for your response.

Isn't there a date code stamped on the rim part of the wheel on the inside. The tire has to be removed to see the date code.

Dan, I hope I am somewhat correct , I believe the rivited wheels ended around 55/56 and the weled wheels started 57 and the date on the welded wheels is very small so get out the glasses. I think its date was stamp round the KH stamp area inner part of the wheel.

Dave sound correct? that may help narrow it down some.

Many times a date code ID not detectable/readable. 55-56 vintage on yours is very possible, and could be passenger car. Some passenger cars had all the characteristics you describe. In 57, pass car wheels became 14".

          Re: Id wheels

I spent quite a bit of time looking for date stamps on 5 of the dog bone welded wheels that I have this past week. So far have found the dates on 2 of them.
In a post that several of us have participated on recently, seems the latest dog bone wheel we have found is dated January 1960. I have one February 1960 smooth welded 15 x 5 rim and four May 1960 smooth welded wheels, so looks like the change may be early in the calendar year of 1960. Any additional info on the changeover from dog bone 15 x 5 to smooth welded 15 x 5 would be greatly appriciated!
