Wow, It is true, they are out there.

Recently I stumbled across an old corvette in a mini storage, an outside mini storage as a matter of oh what a shame fact. The car is a 53-55, cannot tell what year cause gates were all locked up and no one around. Long to short got lucky and found the no. of the storage company manager. This part hurt's like HELL. The car has been sitting in the same spot for 29 year's. All chrome is off and i would hope all in the trunk. Talking to the manager. they will give out no info on the car owned by yep an Eighty year old gentleman who will answer no calls and the car is not for sale. 29 years and not for sale. I will try and post pics later. aint this fun? Brad.

Brad lives in western Washington. So I'm guessing that's where it is. 29 years outdoors in western Washington = major rust! If in dry eastern Washington probably no problemo.

What if all trim were in the trunk and the original drive train were in tact, is this classified as a survivor? I saw wonderbar was on the floor board next to driver side out of weather. If this car could be bought, what would a 53,54 or 55 go for in it's condition factoring total resto cost's and still be profitable? Brad.

At the very least, buy an $8 tarp and volunteer to put it over the car...

Check out Bloomington Gold's def. of Survivor. The value depends upon which year it is and VIN ('53 VIN 003, 300), original color ('54 real black), options ('55 V8, 3 speed . It is pretty safe to say if you pay a good restorer to do this car and purchase the missing pieces profit becomes a foreign word. Even if the unseen parts are included all will need restored and parts replaced. During restoration discussions usually only cost is discussed.

You beat me to it! HF has blue poly 5X7 tarps for $2.59. That would cover the interior.

Brad, that's not any where near a Survivor. Just a restoration candidate. Depending on what's with it and how much rust there is to contend with the value could vary from $10,000 to $18,000 IMHO.

I suppose you are right if the engine, tranny and correct rear end are missing or if its just a shell and frame. But even then shells and frames can bring $10K from the right buyer.
