1969 Corvette owned by Vietnam Veteran RIP

B Company, 2/7th Cavalry, lost five men on 20 Nov 1969:
    • SGT Withers T. Jackson, Rustburg, VA
    • SGT Joseph C. Peters, Sarasota, FL
    • SP4 Leroy L. Howland, Santa Fe, NM
    • PFC William A. Duncan, St Louis, MO
    • PFC Rodney K. Ranson, Salt Rock, WV
SGT Joseph C. Peters family kept his car all these years! I have heard these stories over the years and none have ever panned out, this one however did. I am involved with a number of Wounded warrior groups and have built and donated a few cars for these charities. This car was delivered to me yesterday. It is a gold cvt, PS, PB, AC AT, pretty much loaded 300 HP base car. Has POP, BOS, tank sheet, all the docs you would want. The car is a survivor except one repaint recently. They had no idea they were not doing the right thing. Every component except the tires and battery are origional ( tires where but were discarded when painted ). the repaint is just Ok, I can put a little lip stick and make the car very nice, it drives like a new one. The Wounded Warrior family Support http://www.wwfs.org/ and the Gary Sinise Foundation www.garysinisefoundation.org/ were the ones that got me involved. This car will go to auction after a little TLC. Any Ideas what a plane Jane car that is almost a survivor is worth? thanks Ronnie

Don't forget NCRS has the Star/Bowtie judging program. A car can earn one star in each area of judging. Even with the repaint, would this be a candidate in three areas? That would be a worthy effort in a car 44 years old.

          Ronnie

Regarding Reba's comment, we will be having a regional judged event in Frisco, TX in October if you wanted to bring the car over for judging and Bowtie evaluation. We would love to have it, even if for display only. It would make a great story and display.

              Ronald,

Please keep us posted on what is happening with this Corvette. Owning this 69 would be an honor! Displaying this 69 would be a tribute to the brave owner and fellow soldiers of his company! May they rest in peace as they gave their lives for our freedom!

Great car, I grew up in a small town in North Central Texas, with 1,300 population, we lost 3 young men in VietNam, very sad,
Johnson made a Republican out of me.

I am involved with 4 groups, WWP pays them selves too much so I give else where. Some good ones are Veterans Air lift Command, Wounded Warrior Family Support, Special Operation Warrior foundation and Brothers Keepers. The Gary Sinise foundation is also a very good charity, he builds houses for severly wounded vetsYoung & Wilson MOH1.jpgkenny.jpg
