    66 Motor Mount Finish?

Is there any evidence that the factory painted the entire mount inclusive of the rubber, or, was it painted prior to vulcanizing ----------------- or, was it even painted at all?

If so, what gloss of black was used?

Ref. original non interlocking motor mounts P/N 3886466

    Thank you,
    Ralph

Looks like a black coating applied prior to the molding process, could be paint or a plating of some sort? Looks like semiflat.

Some time ago I posted a photo of an NOS GM #3886466. It should be in the archives somewhere.

          Ralph,

I was just in the garage cleaning the engine mounts for my 66 L79 and saw your post. I have added pictures below. Mine appear to be painted semi gloss prior to the rubber being applied. I will defer to Joe and others more experience to opine if original or not. The only distinct PN on the mount is: 2142.

These are definitely not the GM #3886466 mounts. However, early 1966 were equipped with mount GM #3796050. I just don't recall the configuration of those mounts.

              Re: 66 Motor Mount Finish?

I appreciate all your help, in the end I wound up getting the Anchor 2249 (non interlocking) which looked reasonably close in configuration to the original 3886466. The quality looked very good with the exception of excessive/sloppy overage of rubber from the vulcanizing process which was not evident on the original NOS 3886466, this was remedied with some carefull razor triming followed by cleaning and subsequent satin black spray paint. I was told by Anchor that MOST their mounts were made in the USA; however, found no markings on the mount or box to verify that? Very inexpensive by the way at only $8.95 EA. at Summit. The Anchor interlocking/safety mounts are P/N 2283 but have no idea of their configuration in comparison to factory versions for model years that require safety mounts.
